Congratulations are in order for Second Lieutenant Justin A. Lee of Oakland, California, who was honored with the prestigious Colonel I. Robert Kriendler Memorial Award at Officer Candidates School graduation. 2ndLt Lee, a graduate of the Officer Candidate Course 249 (OCC 249), received the award on August 2nd from Darrel Choat, COO of the Marine Corps University Foundation (MCUF).

This esteemed award is given to the graduate of each Officer Candidate Course who achieves the highest leadership average. The Mameluke sword itself is a powerful symbol of a Marine Corps officer’s commitment and leadership. Receiving this honor is a testament to Lee’s exceptional dedication, discipline, and skill throughout his rigorous training. Prior to his commissioning, 2ndLt Lee served as a Navy Corpsman for 13 years.

The Colonel I. Robert Kriendler Memorial Award is made possible by a generous donation from Mrs. I. Robert Kriendler, who established the award in memory of her late husband. Her contribution ensures that the legacy of strong leadership and service continues to be recognized and celebrated with each graduating class.

We extend our sincerest congratulations to Second Lieutenant Lee on this outstanding accomplishment and wish him the best in his career as a Marine Corps officer.
