MCUF Welcomes Trent Hone as the Marshall Chair of Strategic Studies

Trent Hone joins Marine Corps University Foundation as the Marshall Chair of Strategic Studies at Marine Corps University.

As the Marshall Chair of Strategic Studies, Mr. Hone helps to augment teaching and curriculum development at Marine Corps University.

“One of the things that has gotten me the position are books that I have written.” Hone said.

Mr. Hone’s background is in consulting, but he has studied history for many years and is a published author with one of his books—Learning War: The Evolution of Fighting Doctrine in the U.S. Navy, 1898-1945—on the Commandant’s Reading List. Learning War focuses on the development of the U.S. Navy’s tactics and doctrine in the years leading up to and through World War II.

“My professional work has in the last fifteen years has been focused on helping organizations get better at what they do, learning faster. That’s what I write about, that’s what I can see in the history: patterns that allow organizations to adapt and learn.” said Hone.

Mr. Hone expresses gratitude to MCUF and MCU for this unique experience.

“It’s a really exciting opportunity and I’m happy to be a part of it. I’m happy that the role exists and that the people at Marine Corps University Foundation chose me and that I’ve got a chance to do this,” Hone remarked.

Please join us in welcoming Trent Hone to our team! Funding the Marshall Chair of Strategic Studies is part of the Foundation’s ongoing support of Marine Corps University and made possible by the generous contributions of our donors.
