MCUF Sponsors AI Hackathon at MCU

The Marine Corps University Foundation proudly sponsored the Quantico based portion of the MCU-NPS AI Learning Initiatives Hackathon, a three-day innovation event held at Marine Corps University aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia. The event brought together military professionals, technologists, academics, and industry partners to explore how artificial intelligence can strengthen the future of military education and training.

Co-hosted by Marine Corps University and the Naval Postgraduate School, the hackathon challenged participants to develop practical, scalable solutions to real-world education and training challenges. Teams explored applications of AI in areas including personalized learning, simulation and virtual training, performance assessment, content generation, operational support, and wargaming.

The Foundation’s support reflects its commitment to advancing innovative education and training opportunities that prepare Marines and military leaders to meet the challenges of tomorrow. The Foundation has long supported initiatives that promote professional military education and the exploration of emerging technologies.

Throughout the three-day event, participants worked collaboratively to turn ideas into functional prototypes, combining operational expertise with technical creativity. The hackathon provided an opportunity to move beyond discussion and demonstrate how emerging technologies can be applied to improve learning, decision-making, and readiness.

Congratulations to Major Derek Rose of the United States Space Force, who was recognized as the winner of the event. His accomplishment represents the spirit of collaboration and innovation that the hackathon was designed to foster.
