Bio

Mrs. Charlene Marshall is the former Executive Director of the Garden Club of America and was Associate Director of the Maine Community Foundation.  She is a Lay Eucharistic Minister and for many years taught Stephen Ministry (a pastoral care ministry at St. James’ Episcopal Church in New York), formerly Chairman of the Juilliard School Council and member of the Councils of the American Museum of Natural History and Roundabout Theatre, a member of the Objects Conservation Committee at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Patron Committee of WNET/Channel 13, and a Trustee of the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine.  Until his death in 2014, she was married to Hon. Anthony D. Marshall, Founding Chairman of the Marine Corps University Foundation, former United States Ambassador to Kenya, Madagascar and the Seychelles, and Trinidad and Tobago, and daughter-in-law of the philanthropist Brooke Astor.  Both Mr. and Mrs. Marshall received Tony Awards for their Broadway productions of Long Day’s Journey Into Night (Best Revival of a Play) and I Am My Own Wife (Best Play)At that time, Mrs. Marshall was Vice President of Delphi Productions, LLC.
