2025 Semper Fidelis Award!
Gary Sinise is a renowned actor, philanthropist, and advocate for America’s service members. His career spans over four decades, beginning with co-founding Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre in 1974. He gained acclaim for his role as wounded Vietnam veteran, Lt. Dan Taylor in Forrest Gump, earning multiple award nominations. His film and TV credits include Apollo 13, The Green Mile, CSI: NY, and 13 Reasons Why.
Beyond acting, Sinise has been a steadfast supporter of the military and first responders for over 40 years. His advocacy began in the 1980s with Vietnam veterans and deepened after 9/11. In 2003, he formed the Lt. Dan Band, performing for troops worldwide. He has also contributed to memorial projects and serves on various military support boards.
In 2011, he founded the Gary Sinise Foundation, dedicated to honoring and aiding service members, veterans, first responders, and their families. His 2019 memoir, Grateful American, chronicles his journey from acting to service. Recognized for his humanitarian efforts, he has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Presidential Citizens Medal, the Congressional Medal of Honor Society’s Patriot Award, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
